Space Explorers Club (SEC) is a club designed to promote the study of earth science, mathematics, technology, and astronomy related subjects. This program has been offered at Jacobson for over 2 decades. Students will attend a series of monthly lessons in their classroom during their lunch break. After these four lessons, they meet weekly to build their rockets. Then you guessed it... 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...BLAST OFF!!! Each student gets to launch their rocket.
Students are encouraged to bring their lunch on meeting days. Each SEC member will follow the SEC code and treat each other and guests with respect. And of course, we are following school rules.
SEC is a club that is run by volunteers and we need your help for our continued success. All materials are provided, no prep needed. Each classroom will have a ‘Mission Commander’ to help coordinate classroom activities. Parent volunteers are essential to help students with lesson projects, as well as, building their rockets. Please sign up below. (Please note: Two volunteers are required for each lesson. Lessons without sufficient volunteers will be cancelled.)
1st Grade - $15
2nd Grade - $20
3rd Grade - $20
4th Grade - $25
5th Grade - $25
6th Grade - $40
The SEC Fees cover the cost of the lesson materials, rockets, and other club expenses. Sixth grade SEC members will go on a field trip.
